Use the nrfutil device mcu-state-set command to set the MCU state on devices that support Nordic Secure Device Firmware Update (DFU) and on devices that support MCUboot.
The command switches a device between two modes:
Applicationmode, where the application firmware runs.Programmingmode, where the device accepts DFU packages over a serial connection.
This command is primarily used with devices that have a Nordic DFU trigger interface (the nordicDfu device trait), such as the nRF52840 Dongle. It also supports devices that support MCUboot, such as Nordic Thingy:91 X.
