Make sure you have the following prerequisites:

  • nRF93M1 DK (or a custom board with the modem AT interface on UART)
  • Modem bypass sample programmed on the nRF54L15 host chip. See the Modem bypass sample in the nRF Connect SDK documentation. The DK comes with this sample preprogrammed at the factory.
  • USB cable for connection to the computer
  • Delta modem firmware .bin file matching the current modem firmware on the device ready for upload

Complete the following steps:

  1. Connect the nRF93M1 DK to the computer with a USB cable.
  2. Discover available devices by running the following command:

    nrfutil device list

  3. Identify the serial port for the modem AT interface from the output (COM for Windows, /dev/ttyACM devices for Linux, and /dev/tty devices on macOS). See device list for details. If you are using the default Modem bypass sample, this would be the second serial port of the device corresponding to the nRF93M1 DK.

  4. Check the current modem firmware version by running the following command, with the correct :

    nrfutil 93-series version-query --serial-port <serial_port>

See 93-series version-query for more information.

  5. Upload and apply the modem firmware upgrade by running the following command, with the correct and :

    nrfutil 93-series modem-firmware-upgrade --firmware <firmware_path> --serial-port <serial_port>

  6. Query the modem firmware version again to confirm the upgrade by running the following command, with the correct :

    nrfutil 93-series version-query --serial-port <serial_port>
