Enabling plugins in Wireshark

After installing the plugins, you need to enable them in Wireshark.

Note

You must have compatible hardware connected to your computer to see the plugin in the interface list.

To enable a plugin in Wireshark:

  1. Refresh the interfaces in Wireshark by selecting Capture > Refresh Interfaces or pressing F5. The plugin appears as one of the interfaces on the Wireshark capture screen.

  2. Select the name of the plugin from View > Interface Toolbars to enable the plugin's interface toolbar. For example, for nRF Util modem trace, this will be View > Interface Toolbars > nRF Util modem trace, as in the following example.

You can now use the nRF Util plugin in Wireshark. Depending on the plugin you are going to use:

Proceed to Preparing hardware for nRF Sniffer. In particular, make sure to program your device by following the steps in Programming the nRF Sniffer firmware.

Proceed to nRF Logger for Bluetooth HCI in Wireshark.

Proceed to nRF Util modem trace in Wireshark.
