Nordic Thingy:91 X

To program Nordic Thingy using the USB connection, complete the following steps:

1. Connect Nordic Thingy:91 X to your computer with a USB cable.
2. Open nRF Connect for Desktop and launch the Programmer app.

3. Click Select device.
   

   

   A drop-down menu appears.

4. In the menu, select Nordic Thingy:91 X.
   

   

5. In the File section, click Add file and select Browse.
   A file explorer window appears.

6. Navigate to where you extracted the firmware.
7. Check the CONTENTS.txt file in the extracted archive for information on which file you need.
8. Select the file to program and click Open.

9. In the Device section, click Write.
   Depending on the file you chose, a programming confirmation window can appear. For example, if you chose a HEX file, the MCUboot DFU window appears.

   

10. If you are prompted to do so, select the target to program:

    • The nRF91 target programs the nRF9151 SiP.
    • The nRF53 target programs the nRF5340 SoC.

11. Click Write.
    When the update is complete, a "Completed successfully" message appears.

12. In the File section, click Clear files.

You can now disconnect the Nordic Thingy:91 X from the computer.
