Memfault is a device observability platform that complements traditional debugging tools by providing remote diagnostics and fleet-wide insights. It is particularly valuable when:
- Devices are deployed in remote or inaccessible locations, and you need to capture crashes and diagnostics without physical access or a live debug session.
- Issues only reproduce under real network conditions or occur sporadically and are difficult to recreate on the bench.
- You need full post-mortem context, such as register state, stack traces, memory contents, and (optionally) modem traces, to root-cause crashes after the fact.
- You want to track device health, LTE connectivity, stack usage, and memory statistics across an entire fleet and watch trends over time.
- You want to spot systemic issues affecting specific firmware versions, hardware batches, or network configurations, and collect crash data to identify recurring patterns.
