The nRF Connect Device Manager libraries support MCUboot swap and direct-XIP updates, SUIT, IronSide, and the firmware loader for applications compatible with the nRF Connect SDK Bare Metal option.

Use nRF Connect Device Manager for the nRF Connect SDK applications. For applications based on the nRF5 SDK legacy and secure DFU protocols, use the nRF Device Firmware Update libraries.
The libraries provide APIs for firmware and image management, device reset, statistics, settings and configuration, log collection, file upload and download, and shell commands. They also integrate with nRF Cloud powered by Memfault to retrieve diagnostic data and discover and download OTA firmware updates. The available managers and update capabilities vary by platform and target firmware.
