The following MCP clients have been tested for use with Nordic MCP. This means that we checked the OAuth authentication flow with the listed browser, operating system, and IDE combinations, and verified basic Nordic MCP functionality.
Note
- Visual Studio Code is the recommended IDE for use with the nRF Connect SDK.
- In this first release, the Nordic MCP server is not yet tightly integrated with the nRF Connect for VS Code extension. Your AI assistant and the extension can still work effectively on the same workspace files. Closer integration is planned for the next release.

Note
Browsers marked with * showed a macOS-specific quirk during testing: if the browser app wasn't already running, the first OAuth authorization tab occasionally failed to open.
Retrying the action, or pasting the authorization URL into a running browser window, resolved it in every observed case.
